The first step was choosing the correct genre in regards to the facillities around us so that we would be able to create a film of high quality. After consideration of all factors, we decided on social realism as our genre of choice. From this, we had to decide on our target audience and create a concept accordingly, although we quickly came to the decision of aiming the film at 14-18 year olds as we had a school to film with if we so chose. I knew that there were many issues and concerns facing the modern academic teen. Therefore, it was a matter of choosing the one could be achieve whilst producing footage of high quality. This idea would be depression with the added stipulation of substance abuse. The character would be female to break away from matriarchal protagonism. Each setting for the film was planned to to feature minimal life and movement to focus on the emotional impact on the protagonist. Once we had scheduled each shot and created a storyboard, we had to find suitable actors to bring our story to life. As our group had connections to drama students, we kindly asked and utilized the budding dramatic skill of our friend Corrine to play Hannah (the main character), who gladly accepted our proposal. Now that we had our plan and actress laid out in front of us, we acquired the camera equipment to begin shooting as soon as possible.
